National Historic Trails in New Mexico:
El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro National Historic Trail links El Paso, Texas to San Juan Pueblo, New Mexico. The historic Camino Real originally linked Mexico with the United States. Spaniards first brought horses to the New World and they travelled along the El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro. Descendents of these horses become assimilated into Indian culture.
Old Spanish National Historic Trail journeys through New Mexico linking Santa Fe to Los Angeles. A Mexican trader Antonio Armijo in 1829 pioneered the route to deliver goods to the Los Angeles . Santa Fe developed into the trade centre for commerce between Mexico and United States. The Old Spanish National Historic Trail flourished until 1848 whereupon other routes developed as the United States expanded westward.
The Santa Fe National Historic Trail connects western Missouri and Santa Fe . It was America's first major commercial highway carrying settlers to the West. This is an important historical attraction recording the adventures of the Wild West.
