Hibernian Society of Utah St. Patrick's Day Parade 2009
Saturday March 14 th
"From Kerry to Promontory" is the theme for this year's observance of the annual festivities celebrating the Feast of St. Patrick, Ireland's patron Saint. This year, we honor the memory of Patrick Edward Connor whose contributions to mining and railroading did so much to enhance the development of the commerce of the State of Utah. He was a preeminent figure in mining, railroading and politics.
The Parade Route will be the same as last year, through the Gateway Center. All Units will assemble in the area of the intersection of 400 West and 200 North, march with great precision smartly south on 400 West and thence south, through the middle of the Gateway, a route of approximately 6-7 blocks. The line of March will terminate at the south end of the Gateway. All entrants are invited to attend the SIAMSA, or post-Parade gala which will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 279 South 300 West. To help enhance your party mood, plan on attending this unique post-parade event, and join us for a ‘warm one' or perhaps even a ‘cool one'. The Hibernian Society of Utah promotes the culture and history of Ireland and Irish Americans throughout the state by hosting regular ceilis (music and dance celebrations), festivals, lectures and readings, and the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade and Siamsa.
