LIMERICK

Luimneach is a city and county seat of County Limerick in Munster. It is famous for its rugby heritage, especially the Garryowen rugby club- hence the name of the high rugby kick.

The Normans occupied the city in the 12th century after Viking incursions in the 9th century. The town prospered in the late 18th century but the famine wrecked havoc. Of late, prosperity has returned & the town flourishes.
