Keyport Saint Patrick's Day Parade 2008
Saturday, March 22th at 1 p.m
The 2008 Keyport St. Patricks Day Parade will be held on Saturday, March 22nd at 1:00 PM. The 2008 Grand Marshall is Mr. Ed Flynn. Ed is a life member of the Keyport Fire Department. He and his wife Gladys have committed a lifetime of volunteer work to our community. Ed has served as the former Mayor of the Borough and as a Councilman. Their sons, Edward and Jeff are also former members of the Keyport Fire Department. Ed FLynn is a Korean War Veteran which has proudly served our Country. Come and join us as we are honored to have Ed lead this great parade.
There will be bands including the Pipes and Drums of the Atlantic Watch, Middlesex County Police Pipes and Drums, floats, and fire trucks from surrounding towns including Matawan, Hazlet, Aberdeen Union Beach and Middletown. Many local groups will be marching including St Josephs School, the Keyport Indians, the Middletown VFW Post 2179 , the Keyport Masonic Lodge and DeMolay and the Keyport Brownie Troop.
After the parade stop at one of our many local restaurants here in town and have some corned beef and cabbage or fish and chips. Maybe stop in a pub and have a pint. You dont have to be Irish to have a great day in Keyport!!
The parade route begins on Broad Street near Hwy 36 and proceeds up to West Front where it turns left and ends up near the Ye Cottage Inn. The 2008 Keyport St Patricks Day Parade committee will be meeting each Wednesday starting January 23rd at 7PM and will be held at Eagle Hoses Firehouse, 95 Broadway, Keyport. All are welcome, we need lots of help both with the planning and volunteers on Parade Day. You do not need to be a member of the KFD to help or be part of the committee.
