Barngates. Check out this Great Cumbrian Pubs for Paddy's Day. Back in Victorian years a landlady of this Inn found her ducks lying stretched out in the road and concluded that they were dead.Wrong - they were drunk! A beer barrel had leaked into the duck's customary feeding ditch. Now called the The Drunken Duck Inn.

Beetham. The Wheatsheaf has been welcoming guests since 1609. Initially a farmhouse, the lady of the house provided meals to local farm labourers and the tradition of becoming a local hostelry grew from that time. Later, the Wheatsheaf became a coaching stop en route from Lancaster to Carlisle so why not take a journey back in time this St Patricks Day!!
